Jake Nunes

Jake Nunes is a seasoned leader in San Diego’s food and beverage industry, with over 30 years of experience specializing in management and bar leadership. His passion for craft beer began in 2004 while working at Karl Strauss Brewing Company, and since then, he has become a dedicated craft beer enthusiast—sampling thousands of beers and visiting hundreds of breweries. Jake has held key positions at several renowned breweries and craft beer establishments, including Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits, Stone Brewing, Green Flash Brewing, North Park Beer Co., Tiger! Tiger! Tavern, Societe Brewing Co., Burgeon Beer Co., and Modern Times Beer. A Certified Cicerone® since 2011, Jake has shared his expertise as a speaker at industry conferences, on radio and podcasts, and in television appearances. He has played a significant role in craft beer education, serving on the Advisory Board for the Business of Craft Beer program at San Diego State University and teaching courses such as Exploring Craft Beer and Beer Styles I & II for 11 years. Jake’s leadership extends beyond the classroom—he served on the board of directors for the San Diego Brewers Guild for three years and was elected President in 2024, further solidifying his impact on the local craft beer community.
