Breandán has won several awards from the British Guild of Beer Writers, the North American Guild of Beer Writers, and Saveur Magazine, including: Best International Beer Reporting, Best Beer Blog, Best Beer Podcast, Best Beer History Writing, Best Beer and Food Writing, and Beer Writer of the Year. As well as being a Certified Cicerone®, he is an accredited beer sommelier through the Institute of Brewing & Distilling UK Beer Academy, and a certified ‘algemene bierkenner’ from CVO Panta Rhei in Ghent. He has also studied brewing in Belgium and has worked as a commercial brewer at an award-winning Belgian brewery. Breandan judges at the World Beer Awards and World Beer Cup and apart from writing, shooting photography and recording a podcast on Belgian Smaak, he writes on the subject of Belgian beer for Good Beer Hunting, Belgian Beer and Food magazine and Ferment magazine. He puts all his communications experience from his time as a university coordinator, qualified lawyer, and working with media into telling the stories of Belgian beer.
