Crystal & Tara Luxmore

Crystal and Tara Luxmore joined the Cicerone team in 2018. Their company, Beer Sisters Inc., represents the Cicerone^® Certification Program in Canada. Together, Beer Sisters markets the program by speaking at conferences, teaching classes, penning a national newsletter, proctoring exams, and running a scholarship program.

Crystal passed her Certified Cicerone^® exam in 2013 when she was six months pregnant and went on to become Canada’s first female Advanced Cicerone^® in 2017. She judges national beer and cider competitions like the World Beer Awards as a Certified BJCP Judge. Crystal began her beer career as a journalist and has written about beer, mead, and cider for major publications for the last ten years, including the Globe & Mail and Beer Advocate. This year, she picked up figure skating after a 20-year break — it did not go well. 

Tara became a Certified Cicerone^® in 2017. She judges national beer competitions and the World Beer Awards as a Certified BJCP Judge. Her beer writing has won a National Guild of Beer Writers Award and she frequently writes features and recipes for Canada’s highest circulation magazine, Food & Drink. A former merchandiser for H&M, this year she is restocking her closet with animal prints, one zebra skirt at a time.

Crystal is an Advanced Cicerone; Tara is a Certified Cicerone.
